About This Item

(New York): Greenwillow Books An Imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers, 2008. First Edition. Hardback with Dust Jacket. Fine/Fine. Kevin Henkes. 4to. Unpaginated. A picture book illustrated in throughout. Bound in brown half-cloth over printed paper-covered boards, lettering stamped in blue on spine. In the color-illustrated dust jacket, unclipped. This copy was a gift from Henkes to one of his mentors, Barbara Bader, children's book expert and author of "American Picturebooks from Noah's Art to The Beast Within." Her influence was such that Henkes dedicated his book "Sun Flower Lion" to Bader. On the title page Henkes has illustrated a bear shouting "To Barbara!" followed by "Fondly, Kevin - 2009." A choice association connecting an authority in children's literature with one of today's accomplished practitioners. Dust jacket is now protected in a clear, removable, archival sleeve.
