About This Item
JONES, Diana Wynne. The Ogre Downstairs. [London: Macmillan, 1982]. 12mo, 191pp. Olive boards with spine stamped in gold. Spine ends a tad rubbed, a few small rubbed spots to boards, else an internally clean, bright copy in original color pictorial dust jacket. Inscribed by the author, Diana Wynne Jones.
Second printing. Casper, Johnny, and Gwinny are sure they'll never be happy again when their mother marries Jack, who is as mean as an ogre. To make matters worse, two obnoxious stepbrothers, Malcolm and Douglas, move in as well. No one – except the parents – are happy. But when Jack gives a chemistry set to each group of kids, bigger problems take over. Turns out, they're not your average chemicals! In one hilarious experiment after another, the kids discover they can fly, switch bodies with one another, and even disappear. But what if the Ogre finds out?
