Petrus van Musschenbroek (1692-1761), a Dutch scientist, was professor in Duisburg, Utrecht, and Leiden, where he held positions in mathematics, philosophy, medicine, and astrology. An extremely scarce work. Johann Shroder (1600-1664) was a German physician and pharmacologist and is credited as the first person to recognise arsenic as an element - producing it by heating its oxide in 1649. This work was published in Latin in 1662. This copy has been recently rebound in half leather with marbled boards. The spine has gilt lined raised bands and titles. New endpapers have been added. The whole booklet is held together with the original white metal clasp spine. First page with a Buckminster Fuller design, printed in bright yellow and with red lettering, the other pages printed in blue and showing detailed diagrams of four of his invented construction ideas. A sharp and bright copy of this rare edition.
