Fine/Fine. 16 Cms x 24 Cms. x+166; a virtually immaculate copy in fine jacket with protective sleeve as acquired, Born in 1906 Kalmus escaped to London in 1939 and where he joined University College, travelling internationally after the war for research and teaching. He was also a prolific poet in German. Jacket notes that he died in 1988. He began this when he was 82 and Benedictus completed it from notes etc. posthumously. Although clearly a first ed. the jacket is presumably a slightly modified re-issue as it has 13-digit ISBN bottom back.
