Algernon Charles Swinburne was a poet playwright and novelist. This work is comprised of work discovered among the author's effects after his death. With an introduction by Edmund Gosse, poet, author and critic. Includes two folding plates, facsimiles of Swinburn's 'Memorial Verses on the Death of Richard Burton', the poets hand. Missing the original slipcase. In a quarter vellum binding. Externally smart. Marks to the spine, as to be expected with vellum. Rubbing to the spine, and to the extremities. Agetoning to the foredge and to the bottomedge. Front hinge is starting. Offsetting to the front pastedown, alongside a small tide mark, towards the hinge. 'Van Gelder Holland' embossed on the rear endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean. Numerous pages remain uncut. Near Fine
