A smart second impression of this illustrated work exploring unexplained incidents from British Royal Navy Lieutenant-Commander Rupert T. Gould. First edition, second impression. Illustrated with a frontispiece, seven plates, and twenty-seven in-text figures. Collated complete. A collection of essays written to review a number of incidents which have not yet been satisfactorily explained, chapters include: The Devil's Hoof-Marks, The Ships Seen on the Ice, The Auroras, The Wizard of Mauritius, The Planet Vulcan, and more. Written by Rupert Thomas Gould, a lieutenant-commander in the British Royal Navy, author, and radio personality, noted for his contributions to horology. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light spotting to the first and last few pages. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good
