About This Item
New York: Arno Press, 1975. First Edition, Hardbound. Signed by the author, Ann Bannon. Near fine bright copy with some minor handling without dust jacket as issued. From the Arno Press collection of books on homosexuality, Lesbians and gay men in society, History, and Literature, with Jonathan Katz as general editor. Scarce. Ann Bannon is the well-known novelist of the golden age of campy sub-genre lesbian pulp fiction. With titles like We Walk Alone Through Lesbos’ Lonely Groves, Warped Desire, Deviate Wife, Satan Was a Lesbian, etc. it’s clear that the target audience from the publisher’s point of view was male, but for many lesbians of the time these books offered a welcome chance to identify with a community.
