New York: John G. Treadwell, 1847. 8vo. 288 pp. Engravd frntsp., dedication page, engraved title, numerous engravd plates (some foxng). Full embssd & decorated tan sheep, gilt decorated spine, a.e.g. (mnr chppng hd & ft of spine, mnr edgewear), still VG- copy, from the family library of Major John William De Forest (1826-1906), served with Sheridan in the Shenandoah Valley, and was a noted American author and poet. First edition, thus, of this anthology of morality tales and Odd Fellows literature.
