Bound without the publisher's adverts. A beautiful work on the 'picturesque' by William Gilpin, in which the renowned landscape painter explores the beauties of South Wales, in particular the River Wye.Gilpin undertook this tour of South Wales in the summer of 1770.Including a list of translations of Latin quotations Gilpin uses in his text. In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the spine and extremities. Minor bumping to the extremities. Front joint is starting. Small cracks to the head and tail of the rear joint. A few light marks to the boards. Front hinge is weak. Front endpaper is detaching. Rear hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the occasional scattered spot. Good
