Folio, first edition, pp. 152, printed boards, gravure plates showing artists, actors and other celebrities, slipcased, gift inscription on free front endpaper. Roth, pp. 148-49: "Observations is the culmination of a creative collaboration between Richard Avedon and Alexey Brodovitch [the magazine editor]. ... Capote, who wrote his arch text between Breakfast at Tiffany's and In Cold Blood, is most valuable here for conveying Avedon's words, notably the photographer's observations on the beauty of age." Also see Hasselblad 178 and Auer 386. Condition of this book: Very good with areas of darkening to the boards, wear at spine ends. Slipcase is poor but remains functional. Acetate dust jacket has soiled spine, tears and is missing a chunk but holding together. x Size: Large Folio (bigger than A3).
