Contemporary half calf, boards detached, title and plates foxed with offsetting to text, occasional pencil marginalia, interesting provenance lineage with an early heraldic bookplate of THOMAS DAWBARN, subsequently belonging to GEORGE EDWARD WHERRY, Downing College (1852-1928) with his bequest label [dated on the free end-paper 1919], then with the stamp of the Cambridge Medical School Library. *GEORGE WHERRY, house-surgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital, founding member of the Ophthalmological Society of the United Kingdom, keen mountaineer and author of 'Alpine Notes and the Climbing Foot', 1896.
