About This Item
New York, NY: Jason Aronson, Inc. , 1979 Jason Aronson, Inc., New York. 1979. Hardcover. Stated 4th Printing. Part of the Classical Psychoanalysis and its Application Series. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O name stamp on the FFFP. Book Condition: Near Fine; light sunfading to spine; scant shelfwear. DJ: New glassine cover replacing the original torn and discolored glassine. Gray cloth boards and spine with bright black lettering on the spine and front board. Red endpapers. 299 pp 8vo. The author is a master theoretician within the framework of classical psychoanalytic metapsychology. The thrust of this book is upon "human" object relations and the chapters are reprints of previously published journal papers except for chapter four which is new material. The orientation is essentially ego psychology with creative attempts at integrating classical concepts such as instinct theory and theory of id-impulse developmental stages. The emphasis is upon the borderline personality structure but Kernberg shows a broad knowledge of psychotic, neurotic, and normal development. A clean very presentable copy.
