About This Item
Second edition with a new introduction and material changes. George Bell and Sons. London. 1906. 8vo. xxxii, 422pp. Photo frontis., 16 further plates, folding coloured map. Original pictorial cloth. Gilt lettering to spine, a little faded. Slight wear to top and tail of spine. Bookseller's plate "Chas E Lauriat Co, Boston" to lower edge of ffep. Endpapers lightly toned, otherwise a bright crisp copy.
The new introduction comprehensively addresses the material changes in Nyasaland since the original publication of this book in 1903, and clarifies some areas which "were somewhat misunderstood".
"The book has much to say of wars, chiefs, customs. We commend the chapter on "Big Game" specially. "Nyasa affords probably the finest sport obtainable in Africa today" The Spectator 27 April 1907.
