Contemporary binding: half speckled calf with marbled paper over boards. Gilt rules on spine; black morocco spine label with gilt-tooled title: The Nurse. All page edges speckled. English translation only, from Roscoe's bilingual edition of 1798. Includes Roscoe's introduction on the life and works of Tansillo, largely adapted from G.A. Ranza's Italian edition of 1767, with Latin passages from book 12 of the Noctes Atticae of Aulus Gellius. Evans, 38604. In Near Fine Condition: corners rubbed; pages are clean and tight. An attractive early 19th-century binding.
