A tight, clean, sound copy in light green wraps with minor overall shelf wear with some slight yellowing along the spine and around the edges of the covers plus there is some light yellowing of the outside paper edges. A book that examines the three major theories of the Novelle form in German literature, those of Goethe, Teck, and Heyse, from the standpoint of their historical origin and their applicability to the actual works in the genre. The author also includes a discussion of the theoretical comments made by Adalbert Stifter in the preface to "Bunte Steine." Bibliography, indexed, 120p.. First Trade Paperback Edition.
