Francois de Garsault was an 18th-century French zoologist known, not only for his zoological studies but for his research in botany. Though, his most important book was 'Nouveau Parfait Marechal' – an instructional treatise for French marshals. And while this book does focus on the expectations of marshals, this book is best recognized by its incredible descriptions of horses, horse riding, breaking and training, cavalry instructions, as well as veterinary and herbal care of horses. Note that this work includes impressive, folding engravings throughout!
