About This Item

London:: Smith, Elder and Co,, 1835.. First edition.. Hardcover. Very Good+. vi, [2], 354, +4 adverts: complete with the 12 plates (including the guarded frontis). The text is clean, a few of the plates have some slight foxing, and the original yellow endpapers are present. There are no markings. c.19x11cms, in the original binding of textured green boards, spine titled gilt, bright and firm. The upper board is clean, the spine is slightly sunned, ends slightly blunted and scuffed, and the lower board is slightly marked, and its bottom corner knocked. The author, a Wesleyan Missionary, gives an account of his travels through Arabia, Egypt, the Holy Land, the Isles of the Mediterranean, Greece, and Italy, on his way back from a posting in Ceylon. A very nice copy of a title now rare.
