The first edition of this work.In the original unclipped dust wrapper.A seminal work on tulips, looking at different breeds and hybrids of the beautiful flower species, with interesting notes on their cultivation.Illustrated with fifty-four vivid colour plates.By the amateur botanist William Rickatson Dykes, who was an expert on iris breeding, and had planted over 30,000 tulip bulbs in his home garden at Sutton Green.Illustrated by the author's wife, Elsie Katherine Dykes.With an introduction by Sir A. Daniel Hall. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards and spine, a little heavier to the rear board. Front hinge is starting but firm, rear hinge is tender. Light edge wear to the dust wrapper, with a small closed tear to the head of the front wrap. Light marks to the dust wrapper with a little rubbing to spine and tail of the front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the occasional scattered spot. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
