About This Item
London: John Murray, 1889. Cloth. Very Good. 8.5" by 5.5" . Not Stated. The third edition of this work exploring notes and conversations between the author, Philip Henry, Earl of Stanhope, and the Duke of Wellington. A fascinating collection of the musings and observations of the Duke of Wellington between 1831 and 1851. Including his thoughts on the British military, politics, and foreign affairs. Compiled and collated by Philip Henry, 5th Earl of Stanhope. The third edition of this work. Arthur Wellesley, or The Duke of Wellington, was an Anglo-Irish officer who became one of the leading military and political figures of nineteenth-century Great Britain. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with some shelf wear to the boards, and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Slight fading to the spine. Internally, hinges are tender, but remaining binding is generally firm. Pages contain the odd spot of handling mark, but otherwise pages are bright and clean. Very Good
