Exemplar com assinatura e carimbo oleográfico de posse de Thomaz Jorge na folha de rosto. Apresenta defeitos ao alto das duas primeiras folhas com restauros grosseiros.
Obra constituída por descrições dos principais feitos dos missionários católicos em Moçambique, por ordem cronológica desde 1560, ano da chegada do Padre Jesuíta Gonçalo da Silveira e seus companheiros, até 1888.
Victor José Courtois (Mocambique ) partiu para Moçambique em 1882 e lá desenvolveu um notável obra de evangelização das populações da zona do Zambeze, sendo autor de dois dicionários e uma gramática da língua local designada por nhúngue, falada actualmente por mais de 400 mil pessoas na margem sul do Zambeze, na província de Tete.
