London: The Harvill Press / Ted Smart, 2000. Book Club Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Book club edition, published the same year as the first British trade edition. Two volumes, both signed by Haruki Murakami. Bound in publisher's red and green printed wraps, housed in the original gold printed chemise box. Volumes are Fine with just trace wear, in a Near Fine box with light scuffing and light rubbing. A lovely signed copy of the author's breakthrough novel.

Synopsis

Norwegian Wood  by Haruki Murakami explores loss and sexuality as told from a first-person perspective in the late 1960s. During this time Japanese students were protesting against the established order, which serves as a basis for the events in the novel. The original Japanese title, Noruwei no Mori is the standard Japanese translation of a Beatles song “Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)”, which is often referenced in the story and a favorite song of the character Naoko.  Murikamis writing has received numerous awards with notable works being The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle , Kafka on the Shore , and 1Q84 .  A film adaptation of Norwegian Wood was released in 2010. Translated from the Japanese by Jay Rubin.
