Toronto: Hunter, Rose & Co, 1879. Hardcover. Good. iv, 64 p. + fold-out paper on linen map of Northwestern Ontario. 26 cm. Partial colour map unfolds to 71 x 93 cm. Cloth hardcover with gold impressing. Some discolouration to cloth, worn spot on lower sine, some light wear and staining to rear. Some foxing to map, faint stain on Table of Contents.
Of most interest is the fold-out map of "North Western Ontario shewing (by a pink color) the territory beyond the limits contended for since 1871, by the Goverment of the Dominion and now declared by the boundary commissioners to be within the jurisdiction of the Ontario government." Commentary within the text on the area's population, lakes and rivers, agricultural capacity, etc., dividing it into western, eastern, and Hudson's Bay divisions.
