A tight and nice first edition of this collection that the jacket front panel describes thusly: "Sir Osbert Delineates an Era & Himself Through Portraits of People of Exceptional Talent, Wit & Genius: Writers & Artists Dear to Him in England's Golden Day." Subjects include Edmund Gosse, Ronald Firbank, Wilfred Owen, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Ada Leverson, Walter Richard Sickert, W.H. Davies, Violet Gordon Woodhouse, Rex Whistler and Arnold Bennett.
