About This Item
Copenhagen: Gyldendalske Boghandel, 1917. Illus. by Hjuler, Marie. Poor. Paper. First Edition. 4to (up to 12" tall). 47pp plus several plates. Red cloth spine with full-size pastedowns to boards. Heavy wear to boards with heavy chipping to corners. Text block free from boards. Bottom corner of pp20-30 torn away, taking a word or two with it. Red ink stamp to title page from "Alfa's Borneboger (Alfa's Children's Books)" with a couple of small brown stains. Pages toned and well-thumbed. With all faults. This seems to be quite the rarity--only three copies are listed on WorldCat and the book is not listed on Ms. Ott's Danish Wikipedia page at all and would have been written when she was a mere 17 years of age. The book is in Ms. Ott's native language of Danish and the title translates as "Pixie Kingdom". Marie Hjuler was a celebrated cartoonist and illustrator of children's books and this was the first of several collaborations with Ms. Ott..
