About This Item

Mansfield, Connecticut: Maurizio Martino Publisher, 1993. 5 vols. in 2. BRAND NEW in perfect condition (just removed from the publisher's shrinkwrap so we could write this description). NO rubbing. NO fading. Bright, clean, square and tight. Sharp corners. NO owner's name or bookplate. NO remainder mark. Fresh and crisp -- obviously never read. No date (but 1993, First Martino printing "strictly limited to 325 copies"). A standard reference. Facsimile reprint of the set that was originally published by Garland in five volumes, 1981-86. Here the 5 volumes are bound as 2. 1,610 total pages. This catalogue of Wolff's unrivaled collection is an essential complement to Michael Sadleir's XIX CENTURY FICTION. Wolff attempted to acquire every English novel published between 1837 and 1901 as well as periodicals, annuals and yellow-backs. He also pursued books of travel, politics, verse, plays and other novels outside those dates if by the same authors. He succeeded to the extent that this catalogue contains more than four times the entries in Sadleir. Included are about 80% of Sadleir's titles, with something new to say about many of them. The set then goes on to describe in detail six or seven thousand titles Sadleir did not have. Full bibliographical descriptions and collations are provided as are voluminous notes on contents, bindings, variants, advertisements, authors, publishers and other useful details. Illustrated with photos of bindings and title pages. Cross referenced to Sadleir and other standard authorities. Uniformly bound in the original gilt-stamped dark green cloth. This heavy 2 book set will require extra postage for Priority and International shipments. But for media mail, you pay only our standard charge for 1 volume and we ship the second volume at no extra cost.. First Martino printing, Limited 325 sets. Hardcover (heavy). New/No jackets, as issued. 5 vols. in 2: 1,610 total pages . Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines.
