New York: W. W. Norton & Company Inc., 1971. First American Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine in Good+ dust jacket. 21.5 x 15 cm. Octavo. Grey and red boards in dust jacket. This is the first American edition with full numberline. It was originally published the same year in London by Secker & Warburg. Foxing to the edges of the jacket and two small holes to the front dust jacket. One corner is clipped, though the original price of $5.95 is still present. Light mark to the spine of the cloth. Banville's first published novel.
