About This Item
London: William Heinemann, 1948. First UK Edition, preceded by the US edition published in 1947.
Basis for the 1957 film noir directed by Jacques Tourneur, starring Aldo Ray and a young Anne Bancroft.
Very Good plus in a Very Good jacket. "Hanison Free Gift" stamp on the front endpaper, some light foxing to the first few leaves, page edges, flaps, and jacket rear panel, with a few tiny chips at the corners and some shallow creasing. A presentable copy of a rare book.
