London. Printed for J.& F. Rivington et al. 1787. Hardcover. 12mo, 17.5cm, xi,347p., copper engraved frontis plate and engraved title page with vignette, glossary, index, contemporary full calf, gilt decorated spine, front cover detached and re glued, spine title label wanting, binding edges worn and lower spine chipped, a good copy internally clean and sound (ds1). ~ The best known work of English poet, Edward Young (1683 1765) first published in 1742. "If he did not invent melancolia and moonlight' in literature, he did much to spread the fashionable taste for them." (Ency. Britannia, 1911).
