First edition of The Nice and the Good by Iris Murdoch in the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Murdoch's eleventh novel explores thriller and romantic comedy genres set in contemporary London, and follows the characters complex relationships in the context of a tragic suicide. It was shortlisted for the 1969 Booker Prize. Iris Murdoch was an Irish-British novelist and is was ranked twelfth on The Times list of the 50 greatest British writers since 1945. In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. There are some slight creases to the extremities of the dust wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Synopsis

IRIS MURDOCH was born in Dublin in 1919 of Anglo-Irish parents. She went to Badminton School, Bristol, and read classics at Somerville College, Oxford. In 1948 she returned to Oxford where she became a fellow of St. Anne's college. Awarded the CBE in 1976, Iris Murdoch was made a DBE in the 1987 New Year's Honours List. She died in 1999.
