Born Frances Brewer in New York, she married George Lysnar, a wealthy New Zealand sheep farmer, in 1902. The couple lived in New Zealand for several years before returning to the United States. Known for her philanthropic work, particularly in the area of education, she donated a significant amount of money to Syracuse University, her alma mater, and funded the construction of several buildings on the university's campus. Lysnar also had a keen interest in international relations and was involved in various organizations dedicated to promoting peace and understanding between nations. She served as the president of the American Association for the United Nations, an organization that sought to educate the American public about the United Nations and its work."-Bing.
