2 volumes, 8vo, period cloth with paper spine label, xii, 300, viii, 316 +12 ad pp.Volume I with small chips to covers, minor rubbing to corners, inscription on front endpaper, rubber stamps on pastedowns, foxing to volume. Volume II upper forecorner repaired, minor soiling and rubbing, foxing, and both labels somewhat stained or darkened; else very good. Baynard Rush Hall (1798-1863) was one of the first professors at Indiana Seminary. According to Shumaker this was "one of the most folksy books ever written concerning pioneer Indiana". There is a good deal of material on Bloomington, and the book is considered a valuable source of information on pioneer life in this region.
