The Macmillan Company, NY, 1915; First Edition; 8vo, 186 pages plus a 4-page Macmillan catalogue at the back; black cloth; gilt spine titles. Collection of 29 poems by Robert Browning and 6 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, uncovered for the first time at the Sotheby’s 1913 sale of the Browning estate and heretofore unpublished but for a very small limited edition for the use of wealthy bibliophiles. Edited by Sir Frederic G. Kenyon, whose 18-page introduction begins with the "melancholy sight" of the Sotheby’s sales room on the day of the auction. Also includes E.B.B.’s criticisms of some of her future husband’s poems, and Robert B.’s answers to questions about some of his own work. Illustrated with two steel engraved portrait plates, one of each poet. Very Good, clean, crisp, corners sharp, binding tight, sound and square. There is a 2 1/4" transparent stain at the upper right corner of the blank rear end paper and paste down. No dust jacket.
