JOHN KARSLAKE THOMAS BUCHAN-HEPBURN'S copy of The British Amphibians and Reptiles with his engraved bookplate to the front paste-down. A review copy with loosely inserted "The Field" headed paper dated 13 September 1951. "Would you care to write a short review of the enclosed book - With the Editor's Compliments and thanks. Sir J. Buchan-Hepburn Bt." pp. 322, 33b/w photographs, 18 colour photographs 93 b/w diagrams & maps. Dust jacket fine, not price clipped, a little, protected in a removable archival sleeve. Green hardcover boards fine. Contents clean and tight, engraved bookplate to the front paste-down as described previously. A fine bright first edition in a near fine jacket. [John Karslake was a sportsman, reviewer and author who wrote "The Time of Life: Papers on Sport & Country Life", Robert Hale 1945, illus. Nigel Lovett.].
