Hardcover Ex-Library Book in Good Condition. No Jacket. 311 pages. 8vo. C.P Snow depicts the discovery of atomic fission with this story of the "new men", a small group of nuclear scientists and high government officials working together in England during World War II. Bound in light tan full cloth with red lettering and decoration to front board and spine. Quite clean with wear to spine head and heel, slight wear to corners, interrupted faint black line across top of front panel. Sewn binding is tight and solid. Library residue marks and stamps, card to endpapers. Pages lightly and evenly toned, clean, no markings of any kind, no creasing. Flaps from the jacket are laid in. 1955, Charles Scribner's Sons, New York.
