London: Thomas Kelly, 1839. Hardcover. Good. hand colored plates [10] with multiple flowers + portrait frontis of the author + text illustrations.. Large Octavo marbled calf [rebacked by overlaying spine with a piece of newer leather/corners worn/covers scratched] All Edges Marbled. Portrait +iv [=titlepage + Preface] +972pp including Index. Frontis with some staining, the recto having newspaper garden hints stuck down. Title with two differing names to margin. Some tanning of pages but paper supple and clean, the hand colored pages are clean and beautifully colored and numbered from one to ten. No loose pages, no annotations, no tears. *An author of numerous gardening books M`Intosh`s 1864 obituary notes "we have not the space to enumerate all the periodicals which he conducted or contributed to over his long life"
