London; John Murray, 1820., 1820. Hardcover. New Edition, Corrected. Octavo bound in 12s. Xxxvi, 420 pp + blank pages for notes to rear. Book condition: Very Good. Maroon half-leather binding with raised bands, blind-stamped and gilt decoration, black/gilt title label and marbled paper-covered boards with matching page edges. Spine sunned; boards surface scuffed. Leather corners & edges rubbed but binding tight & sound. "Family Receipt Book 1867" handwritten to front pastedown and paper is worn above this where a name has been erased. Some fingermarking and sporadic light foxing. Not just a cookery book - advice on topics as diverse as "Usefulness of the hazel-nut in brewing", "Rules for milking cows" and "To make an excellent smelling bottle". Every home should have one!
