About This Item
PublicAffairs, 2021. 1st Edition. Hardcover. As New/As New. Signed in sharpie on the title page. A brand new book only opened for signing. Likely to be uncommon signed in light of the fact that it was released amid the 2021 Covid-19 pandemic, with only a virtual author tour scheduled. This book was acquired from a Pennsylvania bookshop near Michael Mann's home. A blockbuster run of blurbs from Greta Thunberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Gore, Bill McKibben, and Don Cheadle among others. Michael Mann is distinguished professor of atmospheric science at Penn State. In 2019, he received the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, often called the "Nobel Prize for the Environment." His previous book "The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars" described his key part in developing the famous "hockey stick" graph that showed a radical rise in temperature over the last 100 years--and the non-scientific controversy it ignited when it was featured in the 2001 IPCC report. A very fine book in a very fine white jacket. We invite you to explore our growing, dedicated collection of signed and inscribed climate change books, including many association copies.

About Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
