Pittsburgh: Printed and Published by Cramer, Spear & Eichbaum, 1811. 7th ed., Improved and Enlarged. 295,[1, corrections] pp. Contemporary calf-backed marbled boards, gilt-ruled spine, red morocco spine label. Boards rubbed and worn, light scattered foxing and toning, else very good or better. Copies hardly ever seen in such godd condition of this hard-used work. HOWES C-855. Street Sale 994. Sabin 17385. Styled "Seventh edition' on the title page, but actually the fifth known edition, after those of 1802, 1804, 1806, and 1808. The first two of these exist in a few copies only. This edition is considerably larger than the preceding ones, with a total of 28 maps: a woodcut map of Pittsburgh, 13 woodcut maps of the Ohio, a map of the Falls of the Ohio, and 13 maps of the Mississippi from the junction with the Ohio to New Orleans. There is also an appendix containing much information on the Lewis and Clark expedition, first included in the 1808 edition. Cramer's guide was the first navigational guide to the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.
