Octavo, original cloth boards with gilt illustration, pp. xx, 536, pp 32 adverts, colour frontis plate, numerous b&w engraved illustrations (full-page and text illus) six maps of which four are folding colour maps. Previous owner's signature. Hinges cracking. Offsetting from tape marks endpapers. Heavily rubbed to head of spine with some loss, markings to rear board. Good condition Travels through Timor, Cocos Islands, and Sumatra. Copiously illustrated. Henry Ogg Forbes (1851 - 1932) was a Scottish explorer, ornithologist, and botanist. 1st Edition.
