About This Item

New York: Farrar Straus and Giroux, 1983. First edition and first printing. Hardcover. 229 pages. McClanahan's first book, a terrific novel about growing up in the 1940's in the south. A tight close to near fine copy in paper covered boards with a cloth spine with some slight sunning to the base of the spine and some bumping to the top front corner and in a near fine dust jacket with some very minor wear. McClanahan was long time friends with Ken Kesey and was a member of the Merry Pranksters which explains Kesey's blurb on the rear panel of the dust jacket.
