Natural History, London: Routledge, undated (mid- to late 19th century).Octavo, priority unknown here, pp. xx, 444, prize binding from the Gillingham Grammar School of Dorset, full polished red calf with gilt lettering, rules and devices to spine, gilt fillets front and back, gilt lettering and device to front, marbled edges, extensive illustration by William Harvey including 2 color plates, book plate and calligraphy signature of A.T. Phripp (presumed prize winner). Author's preface called this "a brief digest of a large mass of materials."Condition of this book:Spine darkened, marks on front and back panels, overall very good and sound. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact.
