Original dark red cloth, spine gilt, front board gilt-ruled with gilt- stamped publisher's logo, t.e.g. Slight fading to spine, minor shelf wear. Interior clean and unmarked with light toning to the endpapers. Near fine. The Lakeside Classics presentation of Kendall's 1844 first-hand account of the Texan attempt to invade New Mexico and extend the western border of the Republic of Texas to the Rio Grande. R.R. Donnelley, in an attempt to save money and present the most interesting portions of Kendall's narrative, includes the entirety of volume 1 and the first chapter of volume 2 from the 1844 issue.
