See Howes 62 for the first edition of 1871. Fanny Kelly was a member of a wagon train from Geneva, Kansas to Idaho, in 1864, when she and her companions were confronted by a band of about 250 Sioux Indians. Three men were killed, two were wounded, and Fanny and her daughter and another woman and child were captured and taken into captivity for five months..
