First published the year prior to this printing.Illustrated with a hand coloured frontispiece, folding map, five plates and numerous vignette engravings from G. Baxter. Collated, complete.Williams spent much of his career in the South Pacific as part of the London Missionary Society.Towards the end of his life Williams decided to make a record of his adventures during this period. This fascinating work offers an autobiographical account of Williams's time on islands including Somoa, Vanuatu and Raratonga, alongside details regarding the area's natural history, local inhabitants and traditions of the island, from the perspective of a British missionary. In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Significant rubbing to paper of boards. Front hinge starting, with board holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, with instances of light spotting. Very Good
