About This Item
[Calcutta: Calcutta Historical Society, 1911. Hardcover. Fair. illustrations, index, 334p. Rebound in serviceable blue buckram. 18cm. Backstrip faded. Numerous pages have insect damage, mostly on page edges. Insect damage seems worst in text portions of two leaves in the Introduction and Advertisement with loss of portions of several lines of text. Lacks last page of Index at end and title-page for the Calcutta Historical Society edition at the beginning -- the book now begins with the title-page for the original Cape of Good Hope edition dated 1814. This Calcutta edition was edited, with an Introduction and an Index, by Walter K. Firminger. Scandal, intrigue and speculation, mostly in Colonial India.
