London: J. Johnson, St. Paul's Church-Yard, 1804. 1st. Hardcover. Good. The very uncommon 1804 1st edition. 1/4 calf over marbled boards. A VG, well-preserved copy of this important narrative-at-sea. A degree of wear along the spine and the tips and minor fading to the spine. 6 gilt-bordered compartments, spine label. Still very tightly-bound and internally quite clean with only light, minor foxing. The 2 fold-out maps and all plates and engravings called for are present and in sharp condition. Octavo, 156 pgs. of narrative plus Appendix of short abstracts of similar cases at sea and, finally, a 15 pg. "List of a Number of Accidents, Shipwrecks, and Escapes Where Great Hardships and Difficulties Have Been Encountered, and Which Many Have Survived by Perseverance." Handsome bookplate and crest of the Llanover Library affixed to the inside cover. The renowned Llanover collection, catalogued in 1914, focused on books and manuscripts of Welsh interest and was brought into the National Library of Wales in 1916.
