About This Item
Philadelphia: Rosenbach Museum & Library, 1999. Paperback. Very Good +. 116 p.: full-page color reproductions of the pages of the manuscript; 26 cm. Black paperback with blue wrapper, which has silver spine and cover titles and color pastedown on front cover. Nakahama Manjiro was shipwrecked in 1841 with four other Japanese sailors. His fascinating story of life in this foreign land was recorded and illustrated by hand. This publication accompanied the exhibition by the Rosenbach in 1999 and 2000 of a copy, probably owned by Manjiro himself. In Very Good+ Condition: head of spine rubbed; one closed 1-cm. tear from upper edge of wrapper; faint stain at tail of spine on wrapper; otherwise, clean and bright.
