New York: North American Congress on Latin America, 1983. Newsletter. Six issues of the bi-monthly magazine, a complete run for the year 1983. Issues present are Volume 17 Numbers 1-6. Various pagination, 7 x 10 inches, in glossy, stapled, illustrated wraps, lightly worn, address labels on rear wraps, Number 5 with rolled spine, Number 3 with small stain on rear wrap, Number 4 with sticker scar on front wrap else good condition. The NACLA Newsletter, which became the Latin America & Empire Report in the early 1970s, and later Report on the Americas, was the primary source for Left-wing reportage on events and institutions affecting the people of Latin America, occasionally expanding coverage to the Mid-East, Southeast Asia and,of course, the Empire. This volume includes "Garrison Guatemala," by George Black, Milton Jamail and Norma Stoltz Chinchilla, "Lucas Garcia," , "The Road from Ixcan," "The Gospel according to 60 Minutes," "Colombia: Whose country is this anyway?" by Ramon Jimeno, Radio Venceremos, Israeli guns, "Chile: beyond the darkest decade," "Haiti: the AIDS stigma," by Martha Cooley, "By What Right? US Foreign Policy 1945-83," by Robert Armstrong, Gloria Lacava, Marc Edelman, also articles, footnotes, references, photos, illustrations, tables.
