New York: Scribner, Armstrong, And Company, 1875. First Edition. Hardcover. Good+. Gustave Dore. Signed Lyria M Edmonds in ink. From the French, By Prof. M. Schele De Vere, LLD Decorated American binding - Clean red leather boards with gold and black lettering and grapevines and man playing a harp with a woman leaning over the harp on cover, gold lettering, grapevines and squirrel on spine. Smooth, dark blue endpapers - no bookplates. Appears to have the original spine re-bound. Some wear to corners and spine ends. Binding is tight and square, pages are mostly clean, some pages have a water drop mark/stain on the edge, with gilt page edges all around. Spine is rebound, some splitting on the front lower left of cover. Size: 9 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches The Date on the Title page is 1875; the copyright date is 1874. While the dates do not match, This Edition is accepted as the First Edition. Oversized or heavy volume, additional shipping charges will apply. Please ask for additional photos prior to purchasing.
