This is a book of Occult Science, Divination, Magic, and esoteric wisdom. An exceedingly rare edition, and after researching every known book site on the web, I cannot trace any available at this time. To top it off, it is in the finest condition I have ever owned nor seen offered. Within its pages, you will find a compendium of writings pertaining to The Tarot, Numerology, and many aspects of the Metaphysical. They don't make them this good anymore; I don't think they ever will. I would snag this one before it's gone...

Long shrouded in mystery, the Destiny Cards system within these pages has been passed from trusted to trusted hand. A respectable enquirer would perhaps read a few passages under the eagle-eyed supervision of their host. The Mystic Test Book by Olney H. Richmond is the absolute original in terms of codifying the sacred mysteries of the cards, and it remains the very core of the discipline. Suitable for the cautious beginner but also allows avenues of development for the more experienced seeker of truths. The author's parlance is delightfully appropriate to his Victorian era, when spirituality began to make itself known in the modern era, finding cracks in the rigidly rational system of the Enlightenment and giving voice to the unusual and mystical.

Thousands of years ago, the Order of the Magi, the brotherhood of astrologers, mystics, and priests of the temples of Egypt, was instructed to keep secret the ancient knowledge of the Seven Thunders (the seven visible planets) and the location of this book.

The Three Wise Men are the founder members of the very Sacred Order of the Magi. The Order has survived for two thousand years, much the same as the Ancient Orders of Stonemasons and the Knights Templar. Unlike those orders, however, it has remained a secret until now. Members of the Sacred Order of the Magi have worked independently or in small groups, with some needing to learn from others.

In the early 1890s, a secret society calling itself the Ancient Order of the Magi set up shop at 1910 Washington Boulevard in Chicago, promoting itself as a continuously-operating occult order with its roots in "prehistory" and Atlantis (in which language Chicago was known as Bab, which seems perfect). The Order of the Magi taught "the religion of the stars, based on a knowledge of astronomy, geology, mathematics, and other sciences. It is a scientific religion that accepts nothing as a fact until proven, and every proposition we make is susceptible to mathematical demonstration and proof. I believe in a hereafter and heaven and have absolute proof of a life to come and know exactly what it is. It is Theosophy, with the wild and untenable speculations of dreamers omitted. It is Spiritualism of the highest type, with the false communications and ignorant teachings of unadvanced beings on the other side ignored. It is science, which does not place a limit on infinity."
